Artemis Papakonstantopoulou
PMA Certified Pilates Teacher | Balanced Body® Master Trainer | Gyrotonic® Teacher

A life dedicated to movement and education
Artemis Papakonstantopoulou has dedicated her career to gaining a deeper understanding of the body, teaching Pilates, and educating new professionals. She is the founder and director of the Mind and Body Pilates Studio in Athens, which she established over 25 years ago with the vision of uniting movement education, personal care, and professional excellence.
The foundations of her approach
Her relationship with Pilates began in 1996, during her studies at George Mason University. There, she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication (1993–1997), combining her communication studies with courses in Anatomy and Physiology. This dual foundation shaped a defining feature of her teaching: understanding the body and communicating movement with clarity.
In 1997, she completed her first Pilates certification at The PhysicalMind Institute. From 2001 to 2007, she served as a Faculty member of the Institute, training and certifying new Pilates teachers.
During her time in London, she completed a Master’s Degree in Fashion Journalism at the London College of Fashion (1998–2000), alongside an intensive Pilates apprenticeship at Lee Saxby Studios. This combination of communication, creativity, writing, and movement education enhanced her signature ability to teach, inspire, and develop educational content.
Balanced Body® education and continuous evolution
In 2007, she joined the Balanced Body® educational community and has since been training Pilates professionals through its curriculum as a Balanced Body® Master Trainer. Mind and Body serves as an Authorized Balanced Body Training Center.
As part of her advanced training, she has studied directly under Nora St. John in specialized Balanced Body® Advanced Movement Principles™ programs, with a focus on movement challenges of the lumbar spine, lower body, and upper body. She imparts this knowledge to Pilates professionals, fostering a deeper understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and intelligent program design.
Knowledge that translates into meaningful teaching
Her experience includes functional movement, Pilates adapted for osteoporosis, gait analysis, movement assessment, and personalized program design. She is also the author of "Designing Effective Pilates Programs," a work that reflects her belief that an effective program stems from understanding, observation, and a clear purpose—not merely from exercise selection.
She has designed specialized Pilates programs for tennis and golf players, applying the principles of the method to support mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and athletic performance.
Through the Mentorship Program, she supports the next generation of Pilates teachers beyond certification, helping them develop confidence, professional skills, and a deeper connection to the method.
