Pilates Over 50: Strength, Balance, and Confidence
29 August 2026How to Choose the Right Pilates Class
Pilates can be adapted to different goals and training styles. Choosing the right class depends on the level of guidance you need and the environment in which you enjoy exercising most.
Private, duet, or small group?
Private Pilates offers a fully personalized program and is ideal when there are specific goals, pain, an injury, or a need for close supervision. Individual sessions begin with a personal consultation and, where necessary, posture analysis and movement assessment.
Duet combines personal guidance with a shared experience for two people with compatible goals.
Small Group classes (up to six people) do not include an individual assessment beforehand. The instructor knows in advance who will be participating and designs each specific class based on the participants' profiles, abilities, needs, and any restrictions.
Mat or equipment Pilates?
Mat relies primarily on body weight and small props. In equipment Pilates, apparatuses like the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels offer support or added challenge, expanding customization options.
